The Never Ending War

Prompt: Why Are We at War Blog

I do not agree with The Presidents reasons on why we are at war. From the beginning, we as Americans were told through the media that we were going to fight a war on terrorism. After the 911 attacks the main focus was to get the people who thought out and carried out this act of terrorism. The main focus of the war has changed directions. I feel that we as Americans are no longer fighting the war based on an act of terrorism.

Mailer is a man with some very strong views on war and the President. The President has a job to keep the people in America safe and free. There are some points in the book that I do agree with. I think that the war is uncalled for and that it is causing America a lot of money as well as a lot of lives.

This was started out as a way to revenge terrorism. In the few years that we have been fighting this war, it has changed directions several different times. There have been several different reasons broadcasted as to why we are fighting this war. No one knows the true reason behind this war. No one knows how long this war will last. After reading the Mailer, I have a different way of looking at the war. I also have a different way of the way I feel about our President.

Americans have probably been receiving some form of terrorism for years. The military has kept that quite. I think that it took a lot of courage for Norman Mailer to write such an expressive work. His work is a real eye opener to me. During the reading I found my self asking, why are we really at war. I am not a very political person, but during the reading of the Mailer my political inside was awaken. No matter how we all feel about this war, the President is going to do what he wants to do, as long as he is still in office. We will probably be still fighting when he is no longer our President.

The Alligator River Story

Prompt: http://litmuse.net/prompt_alligator

I would rate Abigail with a 5. I understand that she was very much in love with Gregory and that she was willing to do what ever she had to do in order to be with him. Even though she loved him very much, there are limits to what one must do. She should not have had to resort to having intercourse with someone to get a ride across the river. I think that she should have just waited until she was able to drive the fifty miles. Abigail was wrong to be happy when Gregory was beaten up. It was her own fault that the cast her aside. She should have just been a little bit more patient. If she would have taken the time to think things out more clearly, she probably could have came up with a better idea.

I would give Gregory a 2. I don’t blame him for not wanting to have anything to do with her. After all she did sleep with another man. The story never said if he loved her as much as she loved him, it would have been different if they were both trying to get to each other. He might have been able to get to her without having to give himself to another.

I would rate Sinbad with a 4. I don’t respect him at all. How could he take advantage of a woman, who was in distress. All she wanted to do was get to her lover and he used that to get what he wanted out of her. He could have just charged he some money, instead of asking her to sleep with him.

I would rate Ivan with a 1. Ivan did the right thing by not getting involved. Sometimes people need to know when to stay out of other peoples business.

Slug I would rate him with a 3. This story did not really have anything to do with him. He was wrong to go and beat up Gregory. Slug just wanted to show Abigail that he was willing to do anything for her.
